Dr. Ronald Abaro
"I tell my team every day that we are so blessed to be in a profession that gives back so much. As unique and challenging as the healthcare industry is, I receive so much gratification in helping others alleviate pain and live a healthier lifestyle.
It's not surprising how many people are afraid of dentistry, and it's always due to a bad experience. Unfortunately, it's the patient who continues with pain and deteriorating overall health. Our goal is to help patients by listening to their individual needs and educating them to take control of their condition. So little by little, they can live a higher quality of life...and maintain it!
And if i'm lucky, they'll teach someone else how to achieve that same health and happiness. A little patience, empathy, and encouragement go a very long way in an otherwise scary situation.
Dr. Varo Boyer
Dr. Boyer is a graduate of UCLA School of Dentistry with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery.
He is continuously committed to improvement and continuing education, and has continued his training at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. Here, in addition to comprehensive dental care, his focus was on treating medically compromised patients, covering trauma cases in the emergency room and extensive training in dental and oral surgery.
Additionally, he has received training while working with the Veterans of the United States. At the Veterans Affairs Hospital in North Hills and West Los Angeles, he spent one year treating patients with complex dental needs. In order to further his education in the aspects of implant dentistry, Dr. Boyer focused his training in oral surgery, placement and restoration of dental implants.
In addition to English, Dr. Boyer speaks three other languages: Spanish, Armenian and Russian.
Dr. Boyer is a faculty member at the UCLA School of Dentistry, where he enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience with the dental students and stays abreast of the advances in dentistry.
Because Dr. Boyer comes from a family of physicians, he is a gentle, compassionate and caring dentist. “Absolute patient comfort and trust in their dentist is my priority.”
Dr. Sherry Shafighi
Dr. Sherry, as our patients know her, believes that dental care begins with listening to the patient. Care and treatment must be personalized for each patient and that the patient's concerns must be fully addressed.
She earned her B.S. degree in Physiological Sciences at the University of California, Los Angeles where she also got her Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree in 2009. She received advanced training in the General Practice Residency Program at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. She is currently a Clinical Professor at the UCLA School of Dentistry.
Her humanitarian approach to dentistry includes volunteering her services for people who do not have access to dental care.
A strong believer of continuing education and constant learning, Dr. Sherry offers her patients advanced, high quality dental care in a comfortable, relaxing, and caring environment.
On her spare time, Dr. Sherry likes to cook, workout, and spend time with her two children and husband.
Dr. Hakam Al-Samarrai
Dr. Hakam Al-Samarrai graduated from the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) with a degree in Neuroscience. He further continued his education at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, where he received his degree in Doctor of Dental Medicine. He is currently active in local UCLA and Tufts Alumni organizations and a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association and Academy of General Dentistry, within which he is working towards a Fellowship. Doctor Al-Samarrai remains committed to furthering his education and clinical skills, and enjoys all aspects of dentistry, from implants to wisdom tooth surgery to full mouth reconstruction. He knows every case is unique, and delivers highest quality care with the utmost attention and precision. He has a passion for creating beautiful, life-changing, healthy smiles. He also enjoys photography, traveling around the country and world, and spending time with friends and family.
Dr. Patricia Stephens
Hi! My name is Patricia Stephens and I have the best position at Burbank Family Dental! I transform smiles with orthodontics. I wanted to be a Dentist since I was in high school in Ann Arbor, Michigan and eventually I graduated from University of Michigan with my Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1985.
After graduation, I moved west and landed in beautiful California in 1989. I’ve received all my advanced orthodontic training in the Golden State along with continuing education in myofunctionaltherapy.
Outside of the office, I sing alto in my church’s choir, design and make jewelry and tutor calculus. I am blessed to have two children- one who is married and lives in San Diego and the other who attends Azusa Pacific University.
I look forward to helping my patients achieve a beautiful and healthy smile that they can share with the world!
